Who is eligible for this program?

This program is open to healthcare providers who want to learn proficiency in dermatology and provide dermatologic care for their patients. Prescribers (physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) and non-prescribers (nurses, estheticians or others) can participate. The program is particularly well-suited to Physicians (MD or DO), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Physician Assistants (PAs), and physicians who want to integrate dermatology into their current practice. For prescribers, this program is especially well-suited for those who have completed training, are licensed and actively practicing medicine in another specialty but want to add dermatology to the services offered or who want to get a job in dermatology, but need training to do so. For non-prescribers such as nurses or estheticians, you can participate in the fellowship program and will learn the spectrum of diseases of the skin, hair, and nails as well. You will also have access to the live dermatology listserv where you can learn from all other participants and can also upload questions. Non-prescribers can also distribute the CLMD products to your own clients, but you cannot participate in the telemedicine program. We do offer a prescriber collaboration program where you can work with a graduate of the fellowship as a prescriber to assist with any prescription needs you may have for your own clients.

What will I learn in the program?

The program is a comprehensive, year-long program designed to provide both foundational knowledge and advanced clinical skills. Throughout the program, you will learn the full spectrum of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. By the end of the first eight weeks, prescribers will be able to comfortably diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of dermatological conditions using the CLMD compounding protocols and products. In addition to these conditions, you’ll receive training in patient care protocols, telemedicine integration, and how to use CLMD’s trusted products and treatment plans. As the program progresses, you’ll also have access to ongoing case studies and mentorship from industry experts.

How long is this program?

The program lasts for one year. The clinical intensive modules are focused on foundational training through online didactic sessions, where you’ll gain the skills to start treating patients using your own telemedicine clinic. Upon completion of the clinical intensive modules, you will continue your learning with monthly courses, case studies, and ongoing mentorship for the remainder of the year.

How is the curriculum and program structured?

There are FIVE parts to the program:

Part 1 (Initial 8 weeks): Become an expert in conditions that are managed with the CLMD protocols and products. We will focus on foundational knowledge where you will complete 8 online training modules that cover key dermatological conditions and how to treat them using the patented CLMD products and proprietary protocols. At the end of this phase, prescribers can take the proficiency exam and, when you pass it, will receive your own teledermatology clinic where you can start treating patients through telemedicine. You must complete credentialing by AZOVA to participate in the teledermatology program.
Part 2: (Also starts in month 1): Learn the full spectrum of diseases of the skin, hair and nails. We will use a leading dermatology textbook, ‘Andrew’s Diseases of the Skin: Clinical Dermatology 14th Edition’ as the basis of the fellowship. You will receive the syllabus at the beginning of your fellowship to guide you in the monthly textbook review content. We will hold monthly textbook review with integrated case review didactic sessions where you will be guided through the diagnosis and treatment of real cases.
Part 3: Access to the ExpertDerm Listserv. When you sign up for the fellowship, you will be added into the ExpertDerm listserv where you can upload photos of cases that you would like to share with the group or that you would like to request advice in managing from the group.
Part 4: Get your own CLMD teledermatology clinic and start generating revenue. The ExpertDerm fellowship is offered through a collaboration between AZOVA and CLMD. Once you pass the initial proficiency exam, AZOVA will credential you and then provide you with a teledermatology clinic with integrated EMR, malpractice insurance, and participation in AZOVA’s nationwide practice. Through this practice and the technology, you can start generating revenue seeing your own patients after you complete the proficiency exam and credentialing (for prescribers only). You receive payment for visits that you complete and you also generate revenue when you recommend the CLMD products to your patients. If you have more than one provider in your group who would like to participate in the fellowship, you will receive a teledermatology clinic for your group that lists each provider who is participating. If you are signing up as an individual, you will receive an individual-branded teledermatology clinic.
Part 5: Distribute the CLMD products and generate revenue. As a ExpertDerm, you automatically qualify to distribute the CLMD products and you can generate revenue for CLMD products that you recommend through your teledermatology clinic. Once you have signed up, your account manager will contact you and get your account set up. You will learn how to use these products to get real, lasting and amazing results with your patients. Your patients will thank you for the difference you are making in their lives!

When can I start seeing patients via teledermatology?

After completing the clinical intensive modules, you can take the initial proficiency exam that is focused on the conditions that are covered in the clinical intensive modules. You must pass the proficiency exam for each module in order to provide teledermatology services through AZOVA. When you participate in the teledermatology program through AZOVA, you are joining AZOVA’s nationwide medical practice and you will need to complete credentialing through AZOVA before you receive your teledermatology clinic. Upon successful credentialing, you will receive personal training on how to use the teledermatology software and will receive your own branded teledermatology clinic. The program includes malpractice coverage, a digital health EMR, and virtual dermatology clinical support staff.

How does telemedicine work?

Telemedicine is an optional benefit to completing the ExpertDerm program. We provide you with the tools to start offering remote care for common skin conditions once you have completed the clinical intensive modules, have passed the proficiency exams and credentialing. You will be trained to use the AZOVA telemedicine platform, which includes features like video, telephone and secure messaging consultations. The system is very efficient and enables patients to complete in an depth medical history, upload photos, and to consult with you and receive the care that they need all online. This allows you to build a flexible, modern practice, expand your patient reach, and manage your time effectively. You can see patients only in the states in which you hold a license to practice medicine. The AZOVA software manages compliance with this as well as compliance with state by state telemedicine regulations.

Can I generate revenue when I offer teledermatology services to my own patients?

You can promote your own telemedicine clinic to your own patients and social media followers, and, upon credentialing through AZOVA, you may be eligible to participate in AZOVA’s teledermatology network contingent upon credentialing. Payment rates are highest for patients that you see through your own teledermatology clinic and are lower for patients that AZOVA sends to you through the AZOVA skin care marketplace. You will receive information about reimbursement rates when you undergo credentialing after you pass the initial clinical intensive modules proficiency exam.

Will I receive mentorship during the program?

Absolutely. You’ll receive personalized mentorship throughout the live dermatology listserv and through our live online group sessions. You can learn from our daily live case review in the listserv and you can always submit your own cases for input from your colleagues through the listserv. Mentorship includes guidance on patient cases, real-world treatment applications, and feedback on clinical decision-making. You’ll be mentored by an experienced dermatologist and other professionals in the field, ensuring that you receive continuous support and expertise as you advance in your practice.

How does the dermatology listserv work?

As soon as you sign up for the fellowship, you will be added to the listserv. Just download the AZOVA mobile app and log in to start taking advantage of the listserv and start learning from your colleagues. You can upload photos that contain no identifying information and request assistance in managing your cases and you can learn from everyone else you participates in the listserv as well. You will have access to the listserve for the year of the fellowship and can subscribe to the listserve after the fellowship to keep access long term. The ongoing subscription fee after the fellowship is only $800 per year and includes access to your teledermatology clinic software and you will continue to receive payment for teledermatology services that you complete.

What are the hours of the didactic sessions?

We hold the didactic sessions in the evenings so everyone who works during the daytime can attend. If you are unable to attend, don’t worry as every session is recorded and made available in the learning management system on your AZOVA dashboard.

What if I am unable to attend one or more of the didactic sessions?

All didactic sessions are recorded. If you miss any sessions, you can watch and listen from your dashboard in AZOVA.

What kind of certification will I receive at the end of the fellowship?

Upon successfully completing the program, including the initial assessment, you will receive an ExpertDerm certification that you can display in your office, online and in your email signture. The ExpertDerm certification indicates to patients and others that you have completed the training program and have proficiency in the ExpertDerm root cause dermatology approach to diseases of the skin, hair and nails. This certification demonstrates your proficiency in diagnosing and treating common dermatology conditions and equips you with the skills to confidently offer dermatology services in your practice.

Can I get CME credit for completing this fellowship?

We are in the process of applying for CME accreditation, but it currently is not available. We will let all participants know as soon as CME is available.

What happens after the fellowship is completed?

After the fellowship, you can choose to keep your access to the dermatology listserve and the teledermatology clinic for an ongoing fee of only $800 per year. This enables you to continue to collaborate with a network of professionals, consult on complex cases, keep your teledermatology clinic, keep access to the dermatology listserv and grow your practice.

How does the program help me build a dermatology practice?

The program provides you with the skills, knowledge, and tools to launch or expand a dermatology into practice. With telemedicine integration, you’ll be able to reach patients remotely, saving time and increasing your patient base. You’ll also receive continued mentorship, guidance on patient management, and marketing support, including a personalized microsite to showcase your services for prescribers.

Can I work full-time while completing this program?

Yes, the program is designed to be flexible. With online training modules and telemedicine integration, you can continue working in your current practice and job while completing the program. The first 8 weeks require active participation in online learning, but after that, you can pace your monthly coursework and integrate patient care into your schedule as you see fit.
