Testing requirement for traveling between US and Canada

If you're flying to Canada, you must have a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure of your final flight to Canada.
If you're flying to the United States, you must have a negative antigen, PCR or NAAT test taken no more than 3 days before you travel by air into the United States.
You must show proof of your test results to WestJet or Swoop by completing a travel clearance even if you have been vaccinated for COVID-19.

How it works

STEP 1: Select the tests that you need for your trip.
We’ve provided a simple checklist to help you determine which tests you need and to add them to your cart and check out. Be sure to complete your purchase at least two weeks before your trip to ensure availability of tests and appointments.
STEP 2: If you select at-home testing, we will deliver your tests to you in the United States before you fly. If you are selecting a return bundle, you can take your test kits with you on your trip.

We will ship your tests and instructions for each test to your home address in the United States (delivery not available in Puerto Rico or Guam). Be sure to take these tests with you to Canada and take your test under video observation to receive a validated result for return travel to the United States.

If you are not able to have at-home tests delivered to you, you may book a test through our Provider Administered PCR COVID Testing Network.

STEP 3: Take your tests
Your shipment comes with instructions for when to take each test and each test comes with its own instructions. Take each test at the correct time for pre-departure, and return testing as instructed. The pre-departure and return tests must be observed with video observation.
STEP 4: Receive your results
You will receive a result for each test that you take. Your results come in both a PDF and the COVID Credentials™ Simple Health Pass format so you can share them with the airline and anyone you want.

When to take your test and send back your sample

Review the following timeline carefully to ensure this test meets your travel needs and when to take your test for travel to Canada, which requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure.

Order your test at the time of booking your flight or at least 1-2 weeks before you need to take the test to ensure you have it when needed.
Schedule your video observation visit in advance to ensure visit availability for when you need to take your test.
