Register ahead of time for your COVID test in Mexico. The cost of a rapid antige test is $59 plus a 16% local VAT tax. The cost of a PCR test is $125 + 16% local VAT tax. Complete one appointment registration for each returning traveler 2 years of age and older. About the AZOVA Authorized COVID Testing Network in Mexico: AZOVA certifies that testing service providers are licensed and authorized to provide COVID testing in Mexico and that the tests that are used are legal for use in Mexico and are accepted for returning to the United States. All testing service providers are able to provide test results within the required 72 hours or less before your return flight from Mexico. Be sure to schedule your COVID test ahead of time before your trip to assure availability. Choose your departure city and complete your test registration.
Important things to know
- Schedule your test ahead of your trip. You will need a negative test result within 72 hours of departure back to the United States. Your appointment time should be 72 hours or less before your departure time. Schedule an appointment for each traveler age 2 and older.
- Testing options include a rapid antigen test with results in 1 to 2 hours and in some locations, a PCR test is available with results in 2 to 72 hours (some locations offer rapid PCR with 2 hour results or standard PCR with results in 72 hours or less).
- Because PCR test results may take up to the full 72 hours to be reported, please be sure to schedule your appointment as close to 72 hours before your flight back to the United States.
- You will pay for the test online prior to arriving for your test. The cost of the rapid antigen test is $59 + at 16% local VAT tax ($68) per person who is tested.
- You will receive a digital copy of your results through the AZOVA app and website as soon as your results are ready.
- You must complete the travel attestation form and attest that you have a negative test result before boarding your return flight AND provide a copy of this form to the airline before boarding.
About the new COVID testing requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- All travelers age 2 and older who are traveling to or connecting through the United States must present proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3 days before departure and must sign an attestation of a negative test result.
- You will not be allowed to board your flight without completing the attestation.
- Approved tests include a PCR test (NAAT) or a COVID antigen test that is approved by the local health jurisdiction.
- For connecting flights, your COVID test must be taken within three (3) days before your initial departure. Layovers cannot be longer than 24 hours.
- If you have recovered from COVID-19 and you have a positive test result that was taken within the last 90 days before travel, you can present this test result along with a letter from your healthcare provider documenting that you have recovered from COVID-19 and are cleared to travel.
